The weather is slowly changing to
warmer temperatures and it finally feels like summer is on it's way.
The camper registrations continue to pour in and right now we are
right at the same number of registrations as we were last year. The
most popular events appear to be the Green Stripped Hippos and Ranch
camps. We are excited that the 50+ summer staff will be arriving in
less than three weeks to begin their two weeks of training. During
training they will be living in the woods, cooking over the fire,
and getting ready for the adventure component of camping.
For those of you who may be new to
our website and ministries I am going to outline the two types of
camping we offer.
INPOST
CAMPING- Campers live in heated/air conditioned cabins in
groups of 10 to 12 with two counselors. General activities include
swimming, canoeing, pontoon rides, horses, low ropes course, high
ropes course, challenge games, crafts, and Bible Studies. Other
activities depend on the individual theme of camps but include trips
to waterparks, Adventureland, movies, mini-golfing, golf courses,
and more. Inpost campers take most of their meals in the dining hall
with an occasional hot dog roast or other meal prepared over the
campfire.
OUTPOST
CAMPING- Campers live in one of many different adventure
sites. Housing options include Tipis, Covered Wagons, Farm Barn,
Woods House, Large platform tents (with cots), Yurts (bunkbeds), and
pup tents. Campers will cook two meals a day over the campfire
including donuts, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast,
pancakes, homemade chicken and noodles, pizza pie irons, and mac &
cheese. General activities include all of the options listed above,
plus a few unique opportunities based on the theme of the camp. Each
day they travel to the main camp for lunch and to swim/shower. The
outpost sites use porta-potties for restroom facilities and have
hand washing areas available. This program is adventure based and
offer lots of opportunities to customize your child's experience.
If you would like clarification on
specific camps and what they do or where they stay please feel free
to contact us. We also welcome visitors to tour the site and see the
sleeping areas. If you need financial assistance with a camp
experience please contact us by
emailing us or calling.
Hope to see you this summer!!
